Architecture Diploma
Until the winter semester 2025/26, we were the only university in Germany to offer a diploma course in architecture (5 years). The course structure is identical to the Bachelor's degree, with a few differences: While you have to reapply for a Master's course, you can study all the way through on the Diplom course. You will also be required to complete a construction site and office internship.
Before you start your studies, we will meet for a preparatory course, a one-week preliminary course that will make it easier for you to start your studies. You will learn the basics of craftsmanship, drawing, technology and organization and get to know fatuk.
You will start the lecture period with the All School Charrette (ASC). Together with Master's and Bachelor's students, you will spend a week working on an architectural assignment. Professors give short lectures and research assistants supervise you throughout the day. The best students present at the end. After one week, you will have already met all of the fatuk lecturers in person.
Now the studies can begin! Within the architecture projects, you are divided into studio classes. You will go through them year by year and receive interdisciplinary supervision. We recommend that you use the fifth semester to study abroad.
While each winter semester starts with the ASC, the entire fatuk swings out in the summer semester and discovers the international architecture scene on week-long excursions.
The study plan tells you which course you should attend in which semester. You can find out what you will learn in these courses (and much more) in the module handbook. You can find out when which course takes place in the KIS. You should also check your examination regulations regularly.
