Architecture Diploma

We are the only university in Germany that still offers a diploma course in Architecture (5 years), which you can study instead of a Bachelor + Master (3 + 2 years). The course structure is identical. There are only a few differences: While you have to reapply for a Master's program, you can study all the way through on the Diploma program. You will also be required to complete a construction site and office internship.

Before you start your studies, we will meet for the preparatory course, a one-week preliminary course that will make it easier for you to start your studies. Here you will learn the basics of craftsmanship, drawing, technology and organization and get to know fatuk.

You will start the lecture period with the All School Charrette (ASC). Together with Master's and Bachelor's students, you will spend a week working on an architectural assignment. Professors will give short lectures and research assistants will supervise you all day. The best students present at the end. After a week, you will have already met all the fatuk lecturers in person.

Now your studies can begin! Within the architecture projects, you are divided into studio classes. You will go through them year by year and receive interdisciplinary supervision. We recommend that you use the fifth semester to study abroad.

While every winter semester starts with the ASC, the entire fatuk swings out in the summer semester and discovers the international architecture scene on one-week excursions.

The course schedule tells you which course you should attend in which semester. You can find out what you will learn in these courses (and much more) in the module handbook. You can find out when which course takes place in the KIS and you should also check your examination regulations regularly.
