TOP 5 - Lists of current favorites of small and large houses by academic staff of the architecture department of the TU Kaiserslautern
At the beginning of the winter semester, we asked the academic staff of the architecture department to list their favorite houses and books as recommendations for those beginning their architecture studies in our department.
This resulted in the publication of the TOP 5 lists of small and large houses, in line with the department's motto "The good house". We also asked for book recommendations that we could recommend to new students. Both serve as a source of information and further education for students.
Drawing up lists, known today as rankings, is a very old cultural technique. At first glance, they "appear to be completely arbitrary and colorful. But it is precisely this apparent lack of logic that makes it possible to depict the balance of power that is at work in a society. "*.
Accordingly, the aim of these lists is not to objectively filter out the best building or book through possible multiple entries, which we do not intend, but rather to give students a better understanding of the thoughts and feelings of the lecturers in the department.
This intention perhaps appears clearer in light of the fact that we also asked for the top picture as an atmospheric image and source of inspiration that illustrates the respective personal side of the respondents.
