"The Vagabonds and Jazz" - The Jazzcampus in Basel by Buol Zünd Architekten
An article in "Archithese 1/15" by Anne Kästle and photos by Georg Aerni
"Jazz musicians per se have a certain affinity for the informal. Perhaps a certain aversion to rigidity, to a haven of rules, determines their path to this music, whose essence is defined by interaction and improvisation. Architecture, on the other hand, is a discipline that does not love the unforeseen, but tries to exclude it by every trick in the book. It is therefore diametrically opposed to jazz. With the task of building a house solely for this music, two disciplines come together that could not be more different. A subjective view of the work that has just been completed."
