Structural architectures geometry, code and design I Erasmus Intensive Program in Milano 2011, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, Germany 2012
The publication (10 Leporelli in a slipcase) documents the results of the first Summer School on "Structural Architectures - Geometry, Code and Design" as part of the Erasmus Intensive Program in Milan 2011. The project of the partner universities TU Kaiserslautern (coordination), Politecnico di Milano, Universida San Pablo CEU Madrid and ETH Zurich was supported by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme.
The aim of the project "Structural Architectures - Geometry, Code and Design" was to test structural thinking as a design method in architecture. Rules based on mathematical, geometrical, physical and functional structures were to be formulated and translated into spatial configurations and relationships between elements. The Italian town of Portovene on the Ligurian coast served as a case study for a structural analysis as a basis for design projects.
